Vicki Doney (formerly Vicki McClure) sang Reach Out and Touch before an estimated TV audience of 2.5 billion people during the Opening Ceremonies of the 1984 Summer Olympic Games held in Los Angeles. In 1986 as a member of the LA JAZZ CHOIR she was a featured soloist on the Grammy nominated Album “From All Sides”. She sang on the NBC TV show “100 Star Salute” honoring Lucille Ball. That featured Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr., Jimmy Stewart, Milton Berle, Cary Grant, Carl Reiner, Burt Reynolds and Lucie’s son, Desi Jr She has performed with The Boston Pops Orchestra under the direction of John Williams, and has sung numerous National Anthems for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Rams, San Diego Chargers, Philadelphia 76er's, and the California Angels. She has recorded and performed with The Nelson Riddle Orchestra and Les Browns Band of Renown, sung duets with Lou Rawls, Kenny Loggins and has appeared on the same stage as George Burns. In 2000 Vicki married and moved to Northeast Pennsylvania. She released her second CD on Pacific St Records , entitled: ‘Natural Woman’ produced by Eric Doney. It features artist greats Bob Dorough, Will Lee and Phil Woods. Most recently, Vicki can be heard as the female voice on the new release and premier of “The Childrens Suite”; an jazz orchestral stage piece written and arranged by The jazz legend alto saxophonist Phil Woods. The text is taken from the poetry of A.A. Milne’s “Now We Are Six”. The DVD release is set for this Spring, 2009. She is on staff at ‘Totts Gap Art Institute’, and during the summer at ‘Camp Jazz’. Both are located in the Mt. Bethel and Delaware Water Gap area. Her class offers acappella vocal ensemble which entails ear training/theory and repertoire development/vocal technique. Her background education is completed high school. Thereafter, music study has been private instruction with a protégé of Nadia Boulange; French composer Jacque Berlinski from Los Angeles. She studied with Charlie Shoemake; Jazz educator at USC. She studied two years with the Kodaly educators of America touring from Hungry (where the Kodaly method originated.) This special program was an offered elective at Northridge University in So. California. Vicki is a member of the Pocono Choral Society, a School House Rock cast member: backup singing for Bob Dorough with vocalists Nancy Reed and Val Hawk. You can hear her regularly at the Deer Head Inn and every Monday night for 6 years in Manhattan at the Garage restaurant with the Howard Williams Jazz Orchestra. , Her most recent solo release is “Live at the Deerhead Inn: “Just Friends” featuring Will Galison on harmonica/guitar, Greg Eicher on bass and Jimmy Waltich on piano. Her TV and movie credits include Allie McBeal, The New Charlie’s Angels, Why Do Fools Fall in Love and ongoing recordings of “School House Rock.” Vicki lives in Pen Argyl, PA close by her husband, producer/pianist/composer Eric Doney, who created PacificStRecords. |
