Matt Vashlishan is a saxophonist originally from the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. He holds a Bachelors of Music in Saxophone Performance from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester NY, a Masters Degree in Jazz Saxophone Performance from William Paterson University in Wayne NJ and is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Music in Jazz Saxophone Performance at the University of Miami where he is also the saxophone teaching assistant of Professor Gary Keller.Matt's professional experience ranges from playing jazz saxophone to playing woodwinds in various musicals both on land and aboard cruise ships around the world. He also arranges music and writes his own compositions which can be heard on his first recording as a leader entitled "No Such Thing" which will be out within the year. Aside from his own projects, Matt has shared the stage with artists such as David Liebman, Phil Woods, Ian Froman, Bill Goodwin, Michael Stephans, Walt Weiskopf, the Dave Rivello Ensemble, the Bill Warfield Big Band, Vic Juris, Steve Marcus, The Temptations, The Four Tops, the COTA Festival Orchestra, Patti Austin, Steve Miller, Bruce Hornsby< and many others. Through his relationship and collaboration with saxophonist David Liebman and publisher Jamey Aebersold they have published three books since 2006 as well as one with Advance Music in collaboration with Bassist Evan Gregor.
